Bonds

Choose your term. Choose your amount. As you prioritize financial wellbeing, powerful bond options can be a part of a balanced portfolio.

Why choose bonds?

Think of a bond like an I.O.U. When an empowered investor like you loans your money to an entity (e.g., a corporation, municipality or state body), the entity borrows the funds for a set period of time. This bond is set at a variable or fixed interest rate. When a bond matures, you are paid its face value plus the interest that has accrued.

Bonds are subject to market and interest rate risk if sold prior to maturity. Bonds values will decline as interest rates rise and bonds are subject to availability and change in price. Bonds yields are subject to change. Certain call or special redemption features may exist, which could impact yield. No representation is made as to an insurer’s ability to meet its financial commitments.

Rising interest rates will generally cause the prices of bonds and other debt securities to fall. In addition, falling interest rates may cause an issuer to redeem, call, or refinance a security before its stated maturity, which may result in the portfolio having to reinvest the proceeds in lower yielding securities.
