America’s Credit Union’s National Advocacy Committee

In 2024, Lake Trust joined America’s Credit Union’s National Advocacy Committee to serve as advisors for the newly merged trade association on policy and legislative issues. The policy priorities established are to protect, empower, and advance credit unions, ensuring they can effectively serve their members and communities.

Limiting predatory interest rates on payday loans

Lake Trust has remained an advocate for Senate Bill 632, a bill that caps fees and rates on payday loans in Michigan. In 2024, after passing through the Michigan Senate Finance, Insurance and Consumer Protection Committee, Senate Bill 632 was approved by the full Michigan Senate. Lake Trust will continue to advocate for this legislation as it moves to the Michigan House of Representatives.

On October 14, more than 340 Lake Trust team members came together for Powered by Good Day, our annual day of service. Across Michigan, Lake Trust volunteers dedicated their time to 29 nonprofit organizations at 39 event sites, supporting causes that address food insecurity, housing, education, and community wellbeing.

The Lake Trust Foundation donated to each nonprofit participating in Powered by Good Day, with a grand total of $41,400 donated. These funds support vital programs and services that strengthen our communities. Long after the day of service ends.

City Rescue Mission of Lansing

Team members give $4,738 to City Rescue Mission of Lansing.

In 2024, The Lake Trust team donated $4,738 to City Rescue Mission of Lansing; the amount of internal funds raised by the Lake Trust team the previous quarter. Team members also volunteered at the Lansing City Rescue Mission’s Uplift Thrift resale shop during Powered by Good Day.

Humble Design

Humble Design

On April 17, 2024, Lake Trust team members went above and beyond to turn a house into a home for a Michigan family through their volunteer day at Humble Design. The team donated a new lawnmower and mowed the lawn for the family. Donated custom design elements tailored to the family members' interests. And provided a meal for the family to enjoy on move-in day.
