It’s always the right time to secure your future.

After her husband’s passing, she needed financial planning and advice to feel confident in her future. That’s why she turned to Lake Trust Financial Life Planning. Today, she is prepared to achieve long-term goals and secure a powerful future for everyone in her family.

A powerful community member.

A powerful community member.

Don’t be fooled by her name — Georgia loves her community in Michigan. She was married in 1971 and became a credit union member that same year. Georgia and her husband raised four sons in the Lansing area and established deep roots in the community. Her husband was a state employee, and she was a history teacher in the local school district.

Family is the most important part of Georgia’s life. She loves being “Gigi” to her grandchildren, checking in with her sons, and celebrating all of their accomplishments. Her famous baked products are often on display at family gatherings — and she even brings her treats to the Lake Trust relationship center in Okemos!

I’m the proud mother of four fabulous boys and five wonderful grandchildren. Financial life planning makes it possible for me to share with them, too.

When Georgia’s husband passed, she faced the challenge of becoming her own banker. Taking on the new responsibility felt daunting and uncertain. “He preferred the drive-through when we visited Lake Trust. But I like going in and talking to people.”

Having conversations with the Lake Trust team made Georgia feel more comfortable about managing her money. She was put in touch with Financial Life Planning, where strategies were created to ensure her long-term opportunities. Estate planning, an IRA account, and other solutions were selected to maximize Georgia’s financial growth and secure a bright future for her family.

I worked for my money, and now it’s working for me. I feel at ease knowing that my finances are in order for the future.

Georgia is delighted to remind anyone that she has been a member of Lake Trust since “before it became Lake Trust.” But this story isn’t about Georgia’s legacy with her financial institution. It’s about finding new pathways, new financial strategies, and new friends. In fact, Georgia now considers her Financial Life Planning representative to be her “fifth son.” In the wake of a very challenging, tragic moment, the team at Lake Trust was ready to simply listen and address her concerns. She loves that her conversations at the Okemos relationship center rarely stay on financial topics since everyone wants to hear her family updates.

Planning for the next stage in life can make anyone feel powerless. Uncertain. Intimidated. But Georgia’s story proves that preparing for the future — no matter your age or circumstance — can be a powerful, humanizing experience. Her future is always getting brighter, thanks to a support system of loved ones and people who care for her wellbeing.

That’s the power of securing your future.
